• In the course of the year Birgit Geißer, now Michalak, becomes a member of the club. Her way will also lead her to the club staff, even if at first we are "only" friends.

• In February, John is presented with the Yamaha Music Award.

• In March, John is in Austria for a few days to film "The Sound Of Christmas" with Julie Andrews – for the next Christmas season.

• On April 4th, Doris and Inge are guests at Radio Forum – for two hours, they have the opportunity to again and again do some "advertising" for John and the club.

• We have a new function in our club – for now on, we do have an American correspondent. Her name is Virginia Allen, and she lives in Utah!

• On August 2nd, John sings at the opening of the Special Olympics in South Bend/Indiana.

• After a long time, we are guests of the Dutch club once again on their Denver Weekend.

• John makes a film again; "Foxfire" with Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn playing the other main parts.

• During a reception at the USSR Embassy on December 8th, John takes the opportunity to suggest co-operation between the super powers in the fight against hunger to Michail Gorbachev.
